Florida Atlantic women’s basketball (9-11, 3-5 American) faced off against the University of South Florida (12-9, 5-3 American) on Saturday at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena, escaping with the win, 64-63. The Owls were extremely shorthanded, as they only had seven active players during the entire game.

On Feb. 2, The Florida Atlantic University Owls Division II (18-4-1) hockey team played the University of Mississippi (10-8-0) in their first playoff game of the postseason. The Owls entered the playoffs ranked second in the division, while Ole Miss was ranked sixth.

Florida Atlantic University division II hockey team is set to play their fellow Boca Raton rivals, the Lynn University Fighting Knights Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Baptist Health Iceplex in Ft. Hockey: FAU Division II teammates make College Hockey South All-Star Europe Team

College Hockey South (CHS) is a nonprofit hockey conference that hosts men’s and women’s hockey within the Amateur  Athletic Union (AAU). CHS hosts over 30 schools and 50 teams spanning eight southern United States.

Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball played in their preseason exhibition game against the University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles on Oct. 29. FAU dominated over their opponents, 111-29.

Florida Atlantic University’s Division II hockey club (4-2-1) played in their second annual Battle at the Beach tournament on Oct. 25 at the Palm Beach Skate Zone. FAU defeated Lynn University (5-2-0), 10-4.

Basketball: American Athletic Conference announces preseason coaches poll

On Oct. 11, the American Athletic Conference (AAC) announced its preseason coach polls. This is Florida Atlantic University’s second season in the AAC. Every year, the AAC coaches vote on preseason rankings for each team in the upcoming season.

Women’s Basketball: FAU welcomes eight new players for the 2024-25 season

Going into the 2024-2025 basketball season, Florida Atlantic University’s women’s basketball team welcomed eight newcomers, including five freshmen and three transfers. 
The five new freshmen are center Lovisa Asbrink Hose, forwards Emaya Lewis and Alana Rouser and guards Sydney Mains and Erin Rodgers. The three new transfer players are guards Zahira Arizmendi Rubio, Stefanie Ingram and Ta’Ziah Jenks.

After having a Division II hockey team for 22 years, Florida Atlantic University is introducing a Division III hockey team for the upcoming season. Both teams are members of AAU College Hockey and the College Hockey South Conference (CHS).

FAU’s Gymnastics Club rises to success, prepares for nationals

Florida Atlantic University’s Gymnastics club was formed to bring student gymnasts together, whether it is their first time or they are veteran gymnasts. 
The team practices at NTS Gymnastics in Boynton Beach every Tuesday and Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday mornings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. As they voyage on their road to nationals, the team uses practices as an opportunity to focus on parts of their routines or skills they need to master.
